FOR CIRNECO DELL'ETNA

At Blackpool the Import Register Gundog/Hound drew a good entry for our Judge Mr Newton. Anharbn White Wedding took Best Bitch and Best Import Register, Anharbn White Tiger was Best Dog. Reserve Best dog was Lee and Susan's Anharbn In The Pink..

Once again it was very pleasant to not only be allowed a lap of honour before the Hound Group but the commentator, Mr Frank Kane gave some excellent details about the breed while we stood in the middle of the ring.

So thank you to the Blackpool Society.

Windsor last weekend in the sunshine saw Anharbn Bluebayou at Allanbru win Best Import Bitch and Best Import Register for Cathy Allan and handled by Alan Leach.

Some changes have been happening in Europe and America.

Defra have issued new requirements for the pet passport from the 1st January 2012. The 6 month wait after the rabies blood test will go and be replaced with 21 days after rabies inoculation. The tick treatment will go but the worm treatment remains but may change to 1 – 5 days prior to entering the UK. The exact details can be found on the defra site.

The FCI have been reviewing some of it's old breed title requirements and one that has been reserected and issued is that certain countries registrations still are not accepted by the FCI. To enable a dog to gain an International title' it must have a three generation pedigree with all registrations accepted by them.

In the USA the AKC list’s the Cirneco dell’Etna has been in the foundation stock service since 2006. From July 2010 the breed has been allowed to compete at performance events. (i.e Lure Coursing). The AKC in April announced that the Cirneco dell’Etna will be allowed into the Miscellaneous Class. Breeds in the Miscellaneous Class may compete and earn titles in Companion Events and also select Performance Events. Miscellaneous breeds are also eligible to compete in Junior Showmanship. They may also compete at conformation shows, but here are limited to competition in the Miscellaneous Class and are not eligible for championship points. Which if I understand correctly is similar to the UK in AVNSC but with further restrictions.

Back in the UK we have news of the 4th litter born this year, Hadranensis Remo (Remo) and Eindackel Elurin (Peeps) 6 puppies born in June. For further details Contact Diane Clark diane.clark1@btinternet.com.

When it came for the latest puppies to leave from the Anharbn Kennels we hosted a BBQ and some fun racing. It gave an excellent opportunity for the new breed owners to come along and meet each other and other Cirneco owners, also to see some of the previous puppies from past litters (and friends). It was good for all to meet up again for some fun, food and a good catch up. The weekend looked as if it was going to be a complete wash out with heavy rain from the Wednesday but on Sunday morning we were all greeted with bright sunshine all day.

The first time racers got off to a slow start but once they found the taste for chasing the white trash bag no stopping them, even when we placed some low jumps on the course they continued to chase and took the jumps in style.

Many thanks to Paul, Lee & John for help in setting up and to Ann for coming along to cook on the BBQ for some 25 people and their dogs from Cirnechi, Canario, Ibizan, Pharaoh’s, Greyhound, Westie and Border Collie. Thank you to all who came to make it such a lovely day.
